Timeless kitchens

Built with considered detail.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE KITCHEN COMPANY

AND HERE'S WHY

We thoughtfully build kitchens and furniture that feel calm, architectural and grounded - and still look dignified in 20 years.

In order to do this we operate by very strict standards, that ensure this is the case for every project that leaves the workshop.

Cabinets

We are one of the very few in the country that only use plywood for our cabinet construction.

Almost every single maker, and company makes their cabinets out of some form of chipboard or MDF at best. The vast majority of companies buy in cabinets from one of the factories overseas, from a country that has a reputation for turning out quick cheap products. The mark up on these cabinets is huge which is why they are used so widely in this industry.

We only use birch plywood for all the carcass (main body) of our cabinetry. This includes the backs and any door panels. It is far more eco friendly, produces less off-gassing in your home, the sheets are produced in the EU and it is incredibly strong and durable. Far more than any other product on the market.

We see kitchens less than 10 years old, where screws have torn out of the cabinet, leaving door hinges hanging off, or drawer runners loose. In these cases the cabinet (and often kitchen) has served it's purpose and is mostly un-repairable.

Because our cabinets are made of laminations of solid wood, this never happens (or hasn't yet!) and if it did, we could easily do a permanent repair.

Finishes

We have our own in-house spray booth where we can apply a huge range of finishes. We use water based lacquers and paints when spraying which again - reduce off gassing in your home and leave a much smaller impact environmentally.

We also use a hybrid oil mix which is linseed based and boasts a 0% voc score.

Sizes

We buy in raw materials to make everything from scratch, meaning we can make our cabinets to any size with no restrictions.

Lots of companies will advertise bespoke products, but the reality is, they are buying all of the parts from various stockists, and just putting a markup on this, so the customer is essentially paying for a middleman.

While designing a build, we try to make our cabinets as a piece of furniture. The result is that the kitchen, dresser, wardrobe or whatever you are ordering, doesn't look like a bunch of boxes screwed together, it's often made as one piece which gives it a far more refined presence in a space.

Style

We are told we have a style, and it's why people like using us. We are able to design classic timeless design, as well as more modern and quirky schemes. We have been designing spaces for so long with no constraints on fixed cabinet sizes, that we have a different approach to how to design a kitchen.

We can create any style of door you could imagine from your traditional classic shaker, flat painted fronts, or any kind of wood, composite veneer, formica, and can also cut any integrated handle design into doors.

Colaborating

We collaborate with some of the best architect and interior design practices, and contractors in the country, but a lot of our work is also collaborating directly with clients on residential projects. So our work can range from furniture packages in a high end London hotel, a huge modernist black box perched on a cliff edge, to quaint cosy cottage. We don't have a minimum order, it's about doing interesting work, that's going to stand the test of time.

Location

We are based in South West Cornwall, employing local people, and paying them a fair living wage. Our workshop is just outside of Marazion where some people will be familiar with St Michaels Mount. Due to the nature of our industry, we are happy to work nationwide, so distance is no issue, and we always welcome potential customers to come to the workshop, to see the sort of work we are putting out.

Pricing

While prices can vary due to specification, finishes, materials and details, here is a very rough guideline of what to expect.

Smaller Kitchen - 15-20k

Medium Kitchen - 22-30k

Large Kitchen - 30-100k+

Medium Wardrobes - 7-10k

These costs are rough examples, and are for the cabinetry alone. Appliances, worktops, and lighting kits are extra, and can also be sourced through us.

We do all the fitting for all of our work, so we take care of everything from start to finish.

All our projects run on a fixed price basis - So once your project is confirmed, the price wont change (unless spec changes are requested)

If you are considering a project, then it's always good to get in touch no matter how early, and see what we can offer.

- We also create wardrobes, dresser units, vanity units, stand alone furniture and whole house interior joinery packages -

Here are some testimonials from Satisfied customers

"What has been on my mind, is wanting to write you to tell you how much I love my kitchen! It’s now been more than a year! And every day, every morning, every evening, I exclaim aloud how beautiful it is! And so easy, functional ,as well as so beautiful. Not only do I have the most beautiful kitchen in the world, but it brings together the whole house, the Japanese doors in the hallway, the upstairs Tatami, and the wood floors ( that you also helped me to do!) So, it’s like having a new house!

So, I feel tremendous gratitude to you for your creativity, skill, heart, persistence and patience with it all, and going the extra mile."

Mrs Arlene Audergon

"Thank you so much for all your work and dedication in designing, making and installing my desk, as well as restoring the old school room. I am delighted with what you have achieved: I have a wonderful place at which to work and my grandson loves using the original child’s desk, now fully operational after many years. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail have also contributed to a really successful outcome."

Mr Jeremy Sharp

"Ross is a total wizard with wood! He has crafted two wonderfully unique wardrobes for me, having carefully listened to my ideas and coming up with designs infinitely more glorious! The workmanship is superb and it was a pleasure having the Seasaw crew working at my house. Highly recommend!!! Thank you."

About Us

SeaSaw is an independent workshop based in Cornwall, designing and building bespoke kitchens and furniture in Birch ply and hardwood.

We believe that if a tree has taken 80–120 years to grow, we have a responsibility to build something that is worthy of it — and that lasts.

We source the best hardware and materials we can find, and support British suppliers wherever possible. We regularly collaborate with architects and contractors, but also design in-house and work directly with clients.

I’ve built in volume production, so I understand precision, workflow and repeatability. SeaSaw is where I bring that discipline together with my background in the arts — into slower, more intentional work, where proportion, material honesty and longevity lead the decisions.
